This has quickly become a fans' favourite. It looks fantastic, but you can really taste the stout. The cake doesn't taste sweet but there's more than enough sugar in there, but it's only used to balance out the bitterness of Guinness. Nigella Lawson's base recipe is the best, which we've transposed. But we normally use half the amount of the topping, which works well considering the size of a cream cheese packet.
